Tabora is Tanzania’s sweet spot as it is renowned for producing the best honey in East Africa along with the best tobacco in the country. Historically, Tabora was once a major trading point and stopover for caravans that connected Lake Tanganyika and Central Africa with the coastal town of Bagamoyo to the northeast. It was a center of trading for ivory and slaves in Tanzania and used to be one of the most populated and prosperous towns in East Africa. Tabora is famous for schooling most of the famous Pan African Leaders such as Julius Nyerere and Rashid Mfaume Kawawa.
